First thing's first, I'd like to thank everyone who offered prayers for my Mom & our family while she was in the hospital. Thank you ever so much. It meant the world to me that you all offered us good thoughts & prayers during a trying time. To update you on my Mom's situation, she is out of the hospital, we were discharged on the 12th just in time for her to celebrate her 60th birthday the following week. She had a transfusion to bring her hemoglobin levels up & we are hoping that it will stay up. We were told that there is a possibility that it will go down again & if it does then it might mean the big C but we want to think positive. So right now it's a watch & wait sort of thing.
Due to losing a week in the hospital, my whole holiday schedule & any plans I had to be stress free this season went totally out the window. LITERALLY! I did some last minute shopping for my girls the day before our holiday party, which wasn't all too bad since the stores weren't that packed. I also decided to channel my inner Martha Stewart & try to do some baking in lieu of store bought gifts. Um, let's put it this way after that whole episode I have great respect, & I do truly mean GREAT respect, for chefs & bakers. I do not know how they do it. After almost the whole day in the kitchen making Molasses Spice Cookies & an Upside Down Cake I was beat. My whole body ached & my feet were in pain! Great respect I tell ya for those chefs & bakers!
If that wasn't stressful enough, well I decided to venture to the mall on the 23rd. Ha! Probably the worst idea I ever had. EVER! I needed to get the rest of my gifts & of course it was left to the last minute. I spent 6 hours at the mall & left wanting to cry. Not because I didn't find anything but because I was soooo tired & there were way too many people at the mall. Must remember to start early in 2010 because that was just insanity.
Christmas itself was great. I got to see my relatives on the 24th & it was so good to see them since I don't see all of them that often. We had fun & games on that day & although the candle I wanted was stolen during the gift exchange but I got a cool planner/notebook in it's place. Dinner was just us 3 with the dog just the way we like it. Quiet & peaceful. Now it's time to relax after all the stress!
Haven't really been able to get crafty this month with all that's been going on. I swear any paper crafting should really cease during the holidays. It's just way too hectic for any to be done. That being said though, I did get 2 pages done early in the month for my duties over at Creative Scrappers sketch blog. The first I used Studio Calico's Yearbook kit & a vintage photo of my cousin & I back in the day.
The second is with Jenni Bowlin's December kit & about my Martha escapades this holiday season. Loving the red in the JB kit.
Well, that's about it for my holiday escapades. As much as I love the holidays, I am happy it's over. Now it's relaxing time! Hope you all got through your holidays in one piece!
